  • From Ms. Lari:
We are adding this opportunity to our curriculum in order to provide the best training possible for our thespians. Back in 2008, Paul Mow and I started a summer musical theatre program called B.E.S.T. (Building Excellence thru Summer Theatre). Our goal was to provide high quality education for those talented and dedicated students looking to follow dreams of becoming triple threat performers. It is extremely important to me that we here at the Citadel continue to offer this to our students, so this opportunity is more than a performance opportunity. We hope to inspire our cast members to learn more about this craft through the process of learning a show. The musical theatre classes will focus on honing skills needed to bring a character to life. The students will be singing, dancing, and acting. I am thrilled to have one of our own Citadel and BEST alumni leading these classes- our very own Paige Mulick :). She is ready to take all we have given her (and then some), and hand it down to a new generation of triple threat seeking tweens and teens. She will be joined by myself, Andrew Fisher, and a couple surprise guests along the way. I will be directing the show and Paige and I will both work on choreography. Andrew will be our music director.

  • All cast members must register for the audition.

All cast members must register for the Spring Session (April 8-June 29) of a Musical Theatre class. Tuition is $240 which includes all production/performance fees.

  • The Audition will take place March 9th at 4pm in the Main Studio at the Citadel.

Please prepare 90 seconds of a song of your choice. *Pro tip- choose something that is in the same range as the character you are most interested in playing. If you aren’t sure, just ask us!

Please prepare a comedic monologue. (Approximately 2-3 paragraphs) Be sure to think about the space and time the character is occupying during the scene.

If you are asked to do a cold read for a specific character, we will supply the materials. We will ask for specific intention and may ask you to deliver the lines in many different ways. The goal of this will be to see how well you work, and how quickly you apply notes.

All cast members will learn choreography in a quick study at the beginning of the audition. We are looking to see how quickly you pick up the material, how much you improve while we work, and IF YOU HAVE A POSITIVE AND SUPPORTIVE ATTITUDE throughout the audition.

The biggest mistake we see in an audition setting, is the lack of awareness of how you present yourself. Please be dressed to DANCE! Have your hair neatly secured, wear dance appropriate attire, and bring jazz shoes. (or ballet shoes)

Please arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of the audition! You need to be ready (physically and mentally) to start at the start time. You will come in, sign in, receive your number, move into the studio and warm up your body. All potential cast members will stay for the entire audition.

Parents- you do not need to stay, but if you would like to, you are welcome to wait in the parents waiting room, or the kitchen. No parents or siblings will be allowed into the studio.

  • Cast members will be allowed 2 absences if they are requested at least two weeks in advance. If you fail to fill out an absence request form, you will be dismissed from the production.

You are expected to attend your weekly class from April 8-May 30th. There will be no class the week of June 3-8.
