Student Policies

  • Weekly attendance, practice, promptness, and a positive and respectful attitude.

    Students should bring all instruments, books, assignment notebooks and any other relevant materials to every lesson.

    Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of your lesson.

    Students are expected to participate in recitals. Preparing for, and performing in recitals are important parts of the arts experience.

    Recitals are optional for adult students.

    All students and family members are asked to wait quietly in designated area in the lobby. Please restrict cell phone (especially speaker) use. Young children must be supervised.

  • Contact your teacher directly to cancel a lesson at least 24 hours before the scheduled time.

    If you miss a lesson without notice, or cancel within 24 hours, the absence will be unexcused and the lesson must be paid for in full unless illness is a factor.

    If the teacher must cancel, you will not be charged.

    Make- up lessons may be offered at the teacher’s discretion, but are limited to schedule availability.

    Two unexcused absences may result in termination.

  • An annual fee of $60 per person or $75 per family, is charged at the the time of registration and must be paid prior the first lesson. (students of Dance and Music only pay one annual fee)

    Tuition is charged one month in advance. Payments are due by the 5th of the month.

    A $15 Late Fee will be charged after the 5th

    Please enroll in the ACH auto pay, or pay by check, cash, or money order. Credit card payments will include the $3 processing fee.

    If paying by check, please make it out to Citadel Dance & Music Center. *Please note the student name, teacher, and payment breakdown for proper credit. You can mail payments to 204 Water Street, Benton Harbor MI 49022, drop them into the mail slot, or drop them in the payment box next to the office door.

    You will not receive a monthly invoice unless your account becomes delinquent. Lessons will be paused until the account is brought current.

    Refunds are not issued unless a group class is canceled due to low enrollment.

    Your account will be credited for excused absences, teacher cancellations, or financial assistance.

  • The Citadel does not follow one particular school district’s calendar. We are closed on major holidays, but students should check with their teacher for specific schedules.

    Weather related closing information can be found on our homepage, Facebook, and/or our voicemail 269-925-1099. We do not close in conjunction with the schools.
